You know that weird feeling you get when you listen to a song you haven't heard in a long time? That feeling that just takes you back? That's what I'm feeling right now. Listening to Flood by The Sisters of Mercy and burning Midnight incense brings back this good feeling that I had last winter when I first moved to the beach and started getting into 80's Goth things. It's a nice sense of contentment mixed with darkness. Like being content in a sort of trance in a very dark room, surrounded by blackness. Sniffing the absinthe scented lip balm I bought during that time also brings back this feeling. I miss feeling that way everyday, like I used to.

Every year I leave this town.
I leave my home for the past 5 years, my dog, my things.
I leave Lucien.

I travel across the country back to Vermont and live with my parents and visit my family.
Sometimes it's for 2 weeks. Sometimes it's for 6 months.

In those separate places, just the beginning of a song...a familiar smell, can leave me reeling and aching to be back in a time that seems lost in those moments.

It's a powerful feeling.
